Welcome to sourdoughn't leave your house. I’m not a professional baker, I’m just a psych grad student who picked up baking as a stress hobby, and I have had a very stressful few years. So if you, like me, are hoping to use bread-baking as a distraction from despair, then I am happy to join you on that journey.
I’m going to send out some recipes and have baking classes on Zoom or Twitch (or whatever ends up easiest / working best). Maybe I’ll post some YouTube videos, I don’t know. I want a centralized place where people can go to get some bread updates and advice, and so on.
Sign up if that at all sounds interesting. For the first letter, I’ll give some instructions on how to make a sourdough starter (all it takes is flour, water, and a week or two), and I’ll also list some essential and not so-essential tools you might need (mostly just a kitchen scale, an oven-safe pot with a lid, baskets or medium-sized bowls, and a razor blade if you want to make cool designs, etc). Then, before we know it, we can get started making loaves like this at home. You might want to stock up on a bit of flour now, though.
In the meantime, tell your friends!
Stay safe,
Vlad
